Cry the Land Zimbabwe
Cry the beloved country of honey and milk.
North, South, East or West, up of the ornate and down under its all the same,
The swirling winds of poverty carelessly blows and vortexes through the windows,
Cry the child of the country you whose heart and mind can't rest all in search of the next meal,
The stomach talks and sometimes sings through the night beleaguering the to be sweet dreams.
Its all shuttered dreams, hopes and a slap in the face of our very splendor being.
Poverty in the vastness of mineral wealth and unequal human capital on the continental face,
What poverty is it or is this but an illusion or are these just delusion of the mind?
The beloved country of old the crown jewel of Africa what is of you now?
What of the country has debried you the now sputtered children of the country?
Do you flee the fear in you or you flee the fear of you that may become manifest?
The brave heart sigh and behold your breath in the hours of the moment.
The soft at heart hold your breath close to your breasts and forget not where home is.
One truth stands erect, still, tall, bold and immovable,
Without her children, the beloved country is not a country but barren land,
An oasis of minerals and fountain of beauty for the eye to feast.
The fleeing children of the country let us have faith in the day of tomorrow for our country,
One-day we shall stand proud and laugh at the painful hours of the moment,
From Zambezi to Limpopo,
Come and reign freedom, free at last, free at last we are free at last!
